We recently completed a full rewire at a chalet bungalow in Bray that our clients had recently purchased. They wanted to bring the property’s electrical system up to the latest safety standards, as the existing installation showed signs of age and deterioration — including the presence of “green goo” throughout the wiring.
With a baby on the way, safety and reliability were top priorities. The project also had a set timeline to ensure everything was completed before their new arrival. Alongside the electrical work, the clients were carrying out major renovations, including new bathrooms, decorating, and plastering throughout.
The Client’s Brief
Our client asked us to fully rewire the property, providing a safe, modern system that would last for years to come. They also wanted the electrical layout to reflect their style and way of living, combining practicality with a high-end finish.
Our Approach
After surveying the property, we provided a clear quotation and schedule that worked alongside the other trades on site. During the project, the clients experienced issues with their original bathroom fitters, which delayed progress. To help keep their renovation on track, we recommended a trusted local building company who were able to complete the work to the required standard and timeline.
Working closely with the clients, we developed a bespoke electrical layout that complemented the property’s renovation. Our work included:
- A complete rewire of all lighting and power circuits
- Mains wired smoke alarms
- External lighting
- External sockets
- Installation of a new 18th Edition metal consumer unit with RCBOs and surge protection
- Fitting of brushed antique brass Hamilton sockets and switches for a high-end finish
- Installation of client-supplied feature light fittings
- Subtle niche lighting in the new bathrooms to create an elegant, modern feel
Throughout the project, we coordinated with the other trades, ensuring all work was completed safely, neatly, and on schedule.
